There’s plenty of baking advice out there, and I’ve found that most bakers are happy to share what they’ve learned. The following might be helpful for you, whether you’re just starting out or looking for some good tips on general baking practices.
Baking 101 – for those new to the craft
Above all, remember…
Have no fear. In the kitchen, if nowhere else, we must be fearless. Fear will burn your cookies, curdle your custard, and keep you from being the baker you want to be. Have no fear, fellow baker! You might have to try a recipe a few times before you get it right, but Thomas Edison didn’t invent the light bulb in one shot, either.
If you don’t love what you’re baking and give it the attention it deserves, it won’t turn out right. I’m not sure why this is true, but I’ve learned it firsthand. If I baked when I’m distracted, my cookies will be overdone in one batch and underdone in another. Pay attention and send your baked goods some love.
