If you’re just beginning as a baker, these recipes are a great place to start. Remember, baked goods don’t have to be fancy to be delicious…and in many cases, the simpler they are, the better they taste anyway.
I’ve chosen a couple of recipes from several of my baking categories, with simple ingredients and basic directions for preparation. Once you’ve mastered these, I’d recommend moving on to more challenging recipes to test your skills. And, as always, have no fear!
- Fab Four Bars (yes, this uses store-bought mixes…but what better way to test your skills?)
- Shortbread Bars
Brownies + Blondies
Bread + Muffins
Cakes + Cupcakes
- Chocolate Cake
- Crazy Vanilla Cupcakes
- Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Raspberry Buttercream
- Pound Cake
- Yellow Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream
Candy + Confections
- Milk Chocolate Fudge (make this on a dry day, because rain and humidity will sabotage you otherwise)
- Oreo Truffles
Cobblers + Crisps
